The 206th meeting was held on July 14th in Ningyo-cho community center. This was first meeting in this term (July 2016 ~June 2017), and contest champion A.D. arranged a wonderful program as TMOE.

The word of the evening was done by J.S., and she introduced "brilliant" citing U.K.'s new Prime Minister Theresa May's speech.

Next, we went through new officers' "Policy Speech" initiated by New Area Governor TM. T.Y. After new officers' short speeches, he talked about his own experience of taking role of various officers. Becoming officers was not his original intention, but thanks to that, he could have various experiences.

Prepared Speech Sessions
#1 Speaker TM. Z.J.: "The Flow" (CC#4)
In "Flow" state, people become productive, enjoyable, and creatives. We can grow ourselves in the fastest pace in "Flow" state, which gives us greatest joy.
So what is "Flow"? We cannot see the "Flow", but explain by comparison of non-Flow state. In non-Flow state, there are various internal conflict of energy inside our body, but once you become "Flow" state, the smooth energy circulation was realized, which resulted in happy state.
How can we be in "Flow" state? One tip is to minimize information input.

#2 Speaker TM R.S..: "English and me"(CC#5)
TM. R.S. visited Germany with her husband. In the hotel, she met a trouble. One of a hotel staff tried to help, but she missed it due to an English grammatical mistake.
So far, she has no trouble related to English skills as there are no opportunities to use, but thanks to this experience, she got strong motivation to learn Englsh.

#3 Speaker TM Y.S.: "Giver's gain"(CC#10)
TM. Y.S.'s mother likes to present others to please them, and TM. Y.S. also hopes to be like that.
One day, two Australian visited Japan, so she decided to give a tour to them. She brought them to famous places as well as her house. They become happy, and sent thank-you present.
In other day, TM. Y.S. met one lady who looked sad, so she cheered her up, then she became fine, and smiling to TM. Y.S..
Like this, by giving something to someone, we got something in return such as smile, and happiness.

#4 Speaker TM Y.C.: "Evolution for something"
After Darwin wrote a book, everyone knows "evolution". Everything moves forward day by day, year by year.
There are two ways of evolutions. The first one is evolution to adapt to the environment. As for human, physical training is an example. The second one is to gradual change, such as study.
We should aim for evolution to change ourselves.
This was his final speech in Nihonbashi TMC, and thank you very much for tremendous contribution.

The best prepared speaker was TM. Y.S.

205th Meeting Report: 第205回例会レポート

7/11/2016

The meeting #205 was our last regular meeting of the year 2015/2016 and our VPE, TM TS, arranged a special program, served as TMOE.

The Word of the Evening introduced by TM JZ’s was “philosophy”. His philosophy is “just do it”. What about yours?

Congratulations to the one and only speaker tonight, TM SM.  He completed the CC#10 with the speech “Enjoy the Difference” Through his speech he taught us: accept and respect differences between you and your loved ones, and your choices in life will be bigger, so will be the others’. In order to deliver this message, he began his speech by asking us a question “1+1 = ? ”, cited concrete differences between him and his future wife and showed us how accepting differences expanded their horizons. Both of them now try something they used to avoid, appreciate things they did not know before. The evaluator TM OK praised the good beginning, great improvement in his speech skills and the excellent speech structure. He encouraged TM SM to practice more before delivery.

And there was a workshop led by our President IK, the Moments of Truth. The workshop helped the members and the guests understand how the club has been doing, what the club should be working on. The six moments of truth were discussed in groups and comments were reported.

  1. First impression:  friendly, open atmosphere, good location; name tags for guests should be prepared (self filling ones will do). A role of guest relations may be desired?
  2. Membership orientation: participation in meetings is good; a workshop for new members would be desirable.   One-on-one interview would be good to know the needs of the members
  3. Fellowship variety, communication: warm and enjoyable; core members give a sense of stability to the club.
  4. Program planning and meeting organization: quite well done; more workshops could be planned.
  5. Membership strength: announcement of members who leave the club, if possible, reasons for leaving is requested; it is important that the club maintains quality meetings and keep members satisfied.
  6. Achievement Recognition: quite well done; TMOE recognized the achievement of the members this year together with TM OK based on the activity record in following categories:
The Rookie of the year (members who joined the club this year): TM WN, Best participant of the year:  TM TS
Best Table Topic Speaker of the year: TM DA, Best Speaker of the year: TM OK,
Best Evaluator of the year: TM YS, who won the third place at the District 76 (Japan) Evaluation Contest
Best Centurian of the year: TM DA, who won the second place at District 76 Japanese Speech Contest

Congratulations to the winners, and also to the club, all members of Nihonbashi Century, that achieved 10 Distinguished Club Program (DCP) goals, the perfect score a club can get!

Furthermore, we had a ceremony for the outgoing officers. Thank you for organizing meetings and contests, facing a few unexpected events. More than a half of them will remain on board the next term, and we, the members, will fully support you – Right, everyone? Thereafter, the club welcomed Mrs. WW. Her mentor will be TM TS.

The club has now sailed for the 8th year. Let us continue enjoying our meetings☆
